About Artful Investments

I first became interested in collecting around the age of 5 when my Grandfather, Reuel Kennedy, showed me his Lincoln cent collection. He spent decades putting together a full set from pocket change.

I immediately began to build my own set by searching my Mother’s and Grandmother’s purses. I never found the rarities that my Grandfather did, such as the coveted 1909-S VDB, but I still enjoyed building a collection and learning about the hobby from my Grandfather.

My interest in collecting quickly expanded to comic books, stamps, baseball cards and many other things. Learning about things of artistic value that others may spend or throw away has become a vital part of my life.

In 2004, I started Artful Investments with a mission to educate and help collectors attain collectibles of high quality. To fulfill this mission, we not only acquire quality collectibles, we also strive to be experts in the field. And we share that expertise with our customers.

Education is a continuing process. Numismatics (the study of coin, medals and currency) for example is an expansive and complex field. One of the ways I sharpen my skills as a numismatist is to meet with the leading minds in the field at the Summer Seminar sponsored by the American Numismatic Association (ANA). At this intensive, two-week seminar I’ve taken several classes in grading, counterfeit detection and coin care. I plan to continue making this annual trek indefinitely.

Experience is just as important as education. I have nearly four decades of experience already. And interacting with hobbyists at shows, local clubs and national organizations makes me realize that you can learn something new every day by sharing knowledge with others who are passionate about collecting coins and comic books.

Whether you are a beginning collector or an expert yourself, you need to consider these factors when shopping at a show or on the internet. With Artful Investments, you can rest assured that you are dealing with someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about the hobby.
